Kanisha E. Henderson (A.K.A “Ayo Nish!”) is a multi-faceted Artist, Songwriter, DJ, Producer, Educator and Social Entrepreneur from Newburgh, NY. From a young age, Ayo Nish! recognized the power of music. She believes that music is what creates moments and memories, connects and unites people, and provokes spiritual movement. Ayo Nish is adding coals to the fire that is “connection” by curating sounds that people gravitate toward.
She has spent many years passionately creating music for audiences in the US and abroad. Ayo Nish! has opened for Flo Rida, DJ Funkmaster Flex, Day 26, DJ Jazzy Joyce and many others. She has worked in the industry alongside heavy hitters such as The Roots, Young Money, Maybach Music Group and Jim Jones. Her experience in the industry, along with her exposure and genuine exploration of many genres, is part of what makes Ayo Nish! so special.
Ayo Nish!’s passion has moved her from solely behind the DJ booth to front and center stage. She is a multi-faceted entertainer that captivates every crowd with high vibing energy and a set you cannot help but move to. Her genre-fluid sound is an amalgamation of pop music, soul, hip hop and connectivity.
In addition to the music itself, Ayo Nish! is committed to social transformation through the arts by designing and implementing programs to foster self-esteem, emphasize individuality, promote dedication and address gang activity. She was honored by the YWCA and Girl Scouts of America (O.C) with the Women of Achievement award in 2016. This is one example of many, that shows how influential her expression can be – to all age groups and cultural backgrounds.
Ayo Nish! believes that everybody deserves to feel good, and music is a way to make that happen. By becoming a pillar of individuality and positivity, she has cultivated a diverse fanbase that will continue to expand and make a positive impact.
From stages to stations, making beats to helping the community, promoting self empowerment to making a crowd move. Ayo Nish! is absolutely a “Different Type of Different”.
As of Spring 2023, while launching Ayo Nish! & Friends Live Podcast, Ayo Nish! has new music ready for the world and is currently in preparation for release this summer.
